One of the first places I visited when I relocated to Pittsboro was Chatham Marketplace. Once I learned more about the co-op, saw the produce and other food items provided by local farms and businesses, and experienced the sense of community between customers shopping in the store saying hello to and sharing coffee and meals outside with one another, I instantly knew I wanted to become a member and that this was a special place within the town of Pittsboro. Many of my personal values align with the goals of the co-op and to have a chance to make an impact in our community through being a Board Member would be an honor.
I am very passionate about buying local, agriculture, the environment, and the quality of food that we put into our bodies as humans. I believe that local businesses such as Chatham Marketplace are integral to Pittsboro’s character and uniqueness and provide benefits and give back to its customers and the greater community in ways that strengthen our locality. Being a part of supporting Chatham Marketplace’s success in the Pittsboro community alongside the current growth Chatham County is experiencing excites me. Through my background in and knowledge of environmental issues, water resources, and agriculture I feel that I could contribute positively to the goals of Chatham Marketplace. I love Chatham Marketplace’s vision and would love even more the opportunity to be an active participant in supporting the advancement of the mission in years to come.
